Cong. Marcy Teodoro Distributes Scholarships to 319 Beneficiaries

With the help of the DSWD and the Barangay Council, Congressman Marcy Teodoro distributed scholarship to 165 Elementary, 136 High School and 18 College students. According to Cong. Marcy, this grant aims to subsidies the needs of the students whether to buy necessary books and other school supplies they need. He also assured the beneficiaries of the continued allocation of funds for the program. A certificate was issued to the beneficiaries into which they need to keep and show this to claim their annual scholarship until they finished their education.

Manila Water conducts Sanitasyon para sa Barangay Program!

The Manila Water in cooperation with the Sangguniang Barangay of Sto. Niño and the City Government of Marikina started the Displudging Program dubbed as "TODO SIPSIP PROGRAM" last September 8 and will run until October 18, 2008.

Secretary Esperanza Cabral of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) personally distributed the first ten recipients of the Family Access Card (FAC) at Sto. Niño covered court.
The FAC holder is entitled to purchase NFA rice which is priced at P18.25 per kilo from Tindahan Natin Outlets in barangay Sto.Niño.

This is the government’s response to reduce the long queues of persons who want to buy the cheap rice and ensure that poor families will benefit from it amid the high cost of rice. A total of 513 Family Access Cards were presented to the sangguniang barangay for distribution to the recipients.

SK's Interzone Basketball Tournament Opens!

The Sangguniang Kabataan of Sto. Niño formally opened its Interzone Basketball Tournament last May 18, 2008, Sunday at exactly 4 o’clock in the afternoon. The tournament has two divisions, the Junior Division with 8 participating teams composed of 16 to 21 years old and the Mosquito Division with 6 participating teams for 13 years old and below. Vice Mayor Marion S. Andres, M.D. and Councilor Vic Sabiniano attended the opening ceremony which started with the parade of participating teams around the the Barangay and culminated with an exhibition game between the Sto. Niño Selection against the Marikina Gay Basketball Association.
The games are scheduled every Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 3 in the afternoon for the Mosquito Division and 5 in the afternoon for the Juniors Division.

Hiyas ng Sto. Niño is Hiyas ng Marikina 2008
2nd Runner-up!

Our candidate for Hiyas ng Marikina 2008,Ms. Jennifer Leonardo was crowned Hiyas ng Marikina 2nd runner-up. Held last April 18, 2008 in Teatro Marikina. Ms. Leonardo was a crowd favorite. She was also awarded Miss Congeniality, voted by the candidates themselves. During the long gown competition, she was escorted by the dashing debonair Kagawad Rizaldy C. Josef. Jennifer wore a pink and blue gown made by Ruel Rivera. Hair and make up by George.
This year's Hiyas ng Marikina, is Ms. Paula Camille Figueras of brgy. Jesus dela Peña.
Last year's Hiyas ng Barangay Sto. Niño, Ms. Reina Lei S. Tupaz was crowned Hiyas ng Marikina 3rd runner-up.
Hiyas ng Marikina is an annual beauty pageant and a project of Zonta Club of Marikina in cooperation with the Association of Barangay Council and the City Government.

Botika ng Barangay

Now serving you on its second year since it was established August 22, 2006 Botika ng Barangay (Barangay Pharmacy) project was established to help the constituents of barangay Sto. Niño who are in need of medicines but cannot afford to buy because of its high prices. At Botika ng Barangay of Barangay Sto. Niño, low priced but quality medicines are available.
Initially, only DOH approved medicines are for sale in Botika ng Barangay: Ascorbic Acid, Ibuprofen, Lagundi Tablet, Loperamide, Mefenamic, Multivitamins, Paracetamol, and the prescription medicines: Amoxicillin, Glibenclamide, Cotrimoxazole, Captropil, Metformin, Metoprolol and Salbutamol.
This is under Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's program, " Gamot na Mabisa, Sa Presyong Abot-Kaya! " campaign.
